Here at Avid Gamer we love new technology and whenever news about some sexy new kit arises it gets us drooling. Any intelligent gamer knows that sound is as important as graphics or gameplay for a game as it adds atmosphere, tension and emotions. To fully experience gaming you really need a 5.1 (or even 7.1) speaker set or headphones. It is very difficult to find good gaming hardware that emulates the sound coming from a game so we’re always on the look for good audio technology. The Saitek Cyborg 5.1 headset is hoping to improve the average player’s gaming experience by boasting a specification set that rivals any existing audio product and the audiophiles among you will be even more thrilled. The headset has an integrated 5.1 channel sound card which with its six sonic drivers manages to give pinpoint sound direction. Sound quality is promised to be exquisite and of the highest quality immersing the player in the game.Coupled with the headset is a microphone with advanced noise-cancelling technology that allows for easy communication. There are in-line volume controls, the ability to mute and a 5.1 sound select switch. The headphones aren’t lacking on the style front as there is the Cyborg logo which illuminates when 5.1 is activated. It’s boasting to be a comfortable set of headphones with full adjustability and padding. Portability is taken care of with the inclusion of a hard carry case for LAN events. (Ed – Just like the one I’ve come back from). It’s possible to use the headset with standard 3.5mm devices (mp3, CD players) and it’s fully windows compatible (USB2). The price is set to £69.99 and offers a highly competitive and solid product.
