You wait a life time for a decent game to be converted to the PC and then low and behold Devil May Cry 4 is announced as coming to PC this summer. The Devil May Cry series stars the half human half demon swordsman who travels the lands slaying demons like he’s caught in a Wachowski bros wet dream. Devil May Cry has seen huge popularity on PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360 with its visceral combat, infinitely challenging combo system and over the top storylines.
This version will take full advantage of the PC’s extra processing capabilities and will use both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10. Graphical sliders and a system benchmark mode will allow customisation of resolutions and graphical effects to ensure optimum frame rates which have apparently been increased from 30 frames per second in cut scenes on console to an impressive 120 frames on the PC. As recent technical demos have shown DirectX 10 is capable of some astounding dynamic smoke and lighting techniques as well as improved textures that could make the game a stand out title on PC. Capcom also announced that the game will feature an exclusive “Dark Knight “mode that will use the PC’s extra power to allow a greater number of enemies on-screen than was possible on the PS3 or Xbox 360 probably as this would have resulted in frame rate issues. We may have had to wait but it seems the PC may be getting the “definitive” version of this popular game. Capcom will release a playable demo before the game hits the shelves and you will be able to download it here as soon as it is available.
