Velvet assassin appears to have a lot of potential; a story based on a real life World War II heroine called Violette Szabo who aided the Allies, by carrying out secret missions against the Nazis. A game focussed around stealth based action is definitely a winner with us.
Any game that has talent from the Hitman series providing input gets another thumb up. With a dark and moody gameplay style, coupled with visceral violence and atmospheric scenarios it’s certainly a game worth keeping your eye on.
What does concern us is the games story that revolves around Violette being in a coma (highly original) for the duration of the game and replaying her past missions/flashbacks from her memories (COUGH Assassin’s Creed COUGH) and administering morphine to allow players to get past difficult sections?
Disguises can be used to sneak past enemies and avoid combat and impressive use of lighting physics allows Violette to distract enemies and avoid detection. The game is due out in October and the team have time to hopefully avoid the control issues that bugged Hitman titles and keep the story fresh and un-formulaic to avoid repetition.
