Codemasters announced today that newest edition of their Toca Race Driver series (and also known as Race Driver: One) will be named Race Driver: Grid. The game will appear on the usual formats; PS3, Xbox360 and PC and is set for a mid-2008 release...

Gavin Raeburn, the Executive Producer over at Codemasters Studios stated;

"Race Driver: GRID is all about the race. The next iteration of our DiRT engine combined with a decade of experience in developing driving games enables us to put the player at the centre of the action like never before. Damage, packed grids, intelligent opposition and unprecedented race day atmosphere will combine to deliver an experience like no other.”

Ralph Fulton, the Chief Game Designer on the project assured us that:

"GRID focuses on everything that happens between the start grid and the chequered flag: the drama, the rivalries, the aggression and the crashes. This is not a game about collecting cars or spending all of your time in the front-end tuning suspension settings or designing liveries. We want to make racing exciting again."

Grid will include new cars from Aston Martin, Koenigsegg and Pagani on a variety of class race tracks. There will be drift events as well as full championships as well as a host of classic cars. The game will sprawl over the US, Europe and the Far East with a large selection of varied tracks.
