Capcom have announced that the new edition of Lost Planet for both XBOX 360 and PC “Colonies Edition” has gone gold and is ready for production for release on 27^th May. This new edition features three new modes to add variety to the gameplay:   

• Score Attack: gives enemies a point’s value that depending on how they are destroyed i.e. an accurate shot will reap higher points.
• Trial Battle Mode: allows seasoned players to battle the games many bosses in a test of reaction and nerves.
• Off Limit Mode: gives the player more powerful weapons and grappling hook to take on the games varied enemies.

Score attack and trial battle mode will be linked to an online ranking system giving players a competitive edge to their killing spree.

Lost planet has a popular multiplayer following and Capcom have included four new maps, five new characters’, ten new weapons and an impressive seven new multiplayer modes to keep the community going. VS Annihilator Mode gives each team a Vital Mech suit which they must protect and a mode in which players are egg poachers and must steal Akrid eggs from other players to win should prove popular.

Surely the best new mode must be Akrid Hunting Mode which offers the ability to play as a one of the bigger Akrid creatures and cause chaos attacking snow pirates.  Thermals at the ready then. Check the screenshots below and the newly uploaded trailer (22/05/08).
