After 7 months, the planned merger between publishing power-houses Activision and Vivendi is finally complete. The new company – Activision Blizzard, will now boast one of the most successful and extensive developer portfolios around. These include the franchises brought over from Blizzard and Sierra, along with the titles already managed by Activision. Robert Kotick, president and CEO of the newly made publisher, commented that, "The completion of this transaction marks the beginning of an important new chapter in the history of interactive entertainment." "By combining leaders in mass-market entertainment and subscription-based online games, Activision Blizzard has leading market positions across all categories of the rapidly growing interactive entertainment software industry.” Activision shareholders voted in favor of the $18.9 billion deal on Tuesday.
