Review - Football Manager 2008 (Xbox360)

First off, Football Manager 2008 has been out on PC since October 2007 and you can read our review here. So excuse us if we’re not going ballistic with excitement over the Xbox360 version. After all the series lends itself so well to the PC because of the mouse and keyboard. It’s just one of those games that appeals to the ‘supposed’ hardcore audience that plays games on PC. SEGA begs to differ and have provided us with a Xbox360 version, with the hope that it’s as addictive as the PC version. We’re standing on the edge of the abyss of losing our life to a game, but does Football Manager 2008 reach the top of the league or is it relegated, with fans craving its blood?

Review - Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars can be compared to a flash flood. For us, it came out of nowhere, swept us away and then vanished without a trace. In other words, we weren’t excited about it, then we got the game and were, and then finally we completed it and got on with our lives. We loved the retro feel to it; the tank rushes, the real life actors and cut scenes. It was a great strategy title but while it should be commended for its retro experience, that’s probably why, once we were done we moved on. In true RTS style it’s not enough to have a single game. There seems to be an incessant need for expansion packs and Kane’s Wrath is just that. Offering a thirteen chapter single player campaign, a new global conquest game mode and two new sub factions per faction, there’s plenty on offer for the C&C veteran, but does Kane’s Wrath fill your RTS appetite or does it leave you craving for your money back?

Review - House of the Dead 2&3 Return

The House of the Dead series made its name as an arcade shooter back in 1996 when Sega let it loose in the UK. Four versions were developed for Arcades (and some for the Saturn) making it one of the longest running light gun shooters in arcade history. Naturally, a Wii port was on the cards as soon as the Wii was announced. The Wii’s IR on the remote acts as a light gun perfectly, and if you have a Zapper (or even better, a Perfect Shot) then this will feel as close to the original series as possible. Why they took 2 & 3 and skipped 1 & 4 we’ll never know, but let’s hope it was because they were the best 2!

Review - SEGA Bass Fishing

What is it with the Wii and ports? Two of Sega’s latest releases have been ports: this and House of the Dead. Not to mention the myriad of titles that previously were PS2 games. But, nevertheless, if the game in question was good before, then surely with a bit of fine tuning it could reach a similar stature to the one it reached originally. Sega Bass Fishing was released (for the first time) in 1999 for Sega’s Dreamcast and sat nicely in and around the 8/10 score in most reviews. Times have changed, and expectations are much higher, so how does it fare now?

Review - Powershot Pinball Constructor
Written by Alec Hilton

The DS has a myriad of games that are solely aimed at the casual gamer; which range from the Brain training games, card games and of course the variety of puzzle games. So it only makes sense that Pinball games start to get more prevalent on the console as Pinball has all the elements looked for in casual gaming. Unfortunately, Powershot Pinball Constructor isn’t the first Pinball game we’ve had on the DS and nor is it early in the DS’ lifespan. If those statements were the reverse of themselves, then it would be possible to overlook a lot of the problems that Powershot Pinball Constructor has. It’s a great shame because the idea behind the game is a good one, but just lacking in its execution.
