Another week (Week 16) and Mario Kart Wii holds the top spot for the second week running. Mario should be chuffed as Mario and Sonic At The Olympic Games occupies number two. Gran Turismo falls to number three and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 stays firm at number four. UEFA Euro 2008 is the enters the charts at number eight while Condemned 2 drops the most from sixth to thirteenth. The only other new entry is The Sims 2: Kitchen and Bath Design Stuff while brings up the rear in number twenty. It seems that Rockstar are spending little time resting after Grand Theft Auto IV’s release this time next week. Today saw the announcement that their fourth title in the Midnight Club series will be seeing a September 9th release for the US and a September 12th release for Europe. Named Midnight Club: Los Angeles, it’s hoping to bring Rockstar’s mix of open world gameplay and ferocious street racing to the next gen. There’s no load times, no tracks and a cliché remark of ‘no rules.’ With a healthy list of cars on the slate, as well as ample customization options this is looking to be the best Midnight Club yet. Be sure to check out the official site for some media. Be first to comment this article |

Many have been excitedly awaiting the release of the Metal Gear Online Beta, but alas it will be a longer wait for the Western world. As of 0800 CEST today Konami released a message on their website for the game stating that the beta will be suspended in the US and EU until an undefined time. But the ray of light is that in the same bulletin they have assured us that they will be making an announcement tomorrow regarding the new release date. The reason behind the halt of the beta is that “…we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected. As a temporary measure, we will be suspending the European public beta test and restart it once we stabilize our server.” So looking on the good side, it does mean those of you that have been having problems either downloading the update or getting hold of your Konami ID have more time to do so. With the release of GTAIV less than two weeks away and the tabloids ready to pounce on the most ‘evil game to arise from Satan’s bosom,’ it’s nice to read about how video games are being helpful to their communities. Codemasters revealed today that they’re supporting a new campaign to stop anti social behaviour in schools. North East Lincolnshire Council will be supplied with copies of Emergency Mayhem, the latest title from Codemasters which takes place in Crisis City. The players’ tasked with helping residents and stopping the antisocial behaviour seen in the game. The game’s gone gold and will be out this Friday. Be first to comment this article |
