The latest title in the Guitar Hero series has proven an instant hit with Nintendo DS owners in the US totalling 300,000 sales in the first week of launch. With such a high turnover, it comes as no surprise that Guitar Hero: On Tour has become the fastest selling Nintendo DS title in North America. It also ranks as one of the the top five Activision titles (sales-during-launch). With the game arriving in European shores in two weeks it will be interesting to see how well it fares over here. Earlier this week, we spotted a new website on Square Enix’s website depicting a clock with the URL ending in CTDS. Speculation suggested that it was a new entry in the Chrono Trigger series being developed on the Nintendo DS. This has been confirmed by Square Enix via a press release released in Yahoo’s business section. The game is set to arrive in the States this autumn. It’ll have an ‘epic storyline’ to rival the original. Akira Toriyama is in charge of the artwork and the soundtrack is being directed by Yasunari Mitsuda. More news when it arrives. If you eagerly camped out for the release of Firmware 2.40, then kudos. If you aren’t as psyched about the update to the PS3, then signing onto the PSN today would have resulted in a big nothing. The reason; Sony received a “Limited number of calls” from PS3 owners reporting that their console was ‘bricking.’ Sony have pulled the update from the servers and will re-release it once the problem has been isolated. We’ll keep you updated on the much talked about 2.40 update that brings trophies and in-game XMB support to the PS3. Comments (1) |

Valve have shown that their not one for abandoning their old games. Day of Defeat: Source has had a makeover in the form of the ‘Palermo Update’. The game has implemented ‘Steamworks’ bringing 51 achievements, player avatars (that are displayed in the scoreboard) and finally, detailed statistics that show up in your steam community page. On top of that is the inclusion of the TF2 “Nemesis / Revenge” camera and new particle effects for the engine. To get you playing, a new map has also been released; Palermo, a remixed version of the popular dod_salerno. If you don’t know what Day of Defeat is, then head on over to the update page to take part in a free weekend. Comments (1) |
