SEGA have teamed up with UK developers The Creative Assembly (the minds behind Total War and Viking: Battle for Asgard) to bring a new IP to consoles. Stormrise will be a RTS for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 and is arriving in 2009. You’ll be controlling your troops at the front line utilising height as an advantage.  The game’s set on earth where the Echelon and the Sai are battling it out for survival. Gary Knight, the European Marketing Director had this to say:

“The Creative Assembly have proven their general leadership in developing RTS games through the award winning ‘Total War’ Series on PC. However, Stormrise has been built from the ground up specifically for high def consoles to provide a more intense, frenetic style of game that, coupled with the all new control mechanic, will revolutionise the way RTS games are played.”

It seems as though Nintendo are really pushing their 2D side scrolling Wario adventure, with the constant reminder of what the release date is. No delays willing, the game should be out on the 26th September. The story is based around the anti-hero Wario as he tries to enact his latest plan of getting all the treasure in the world.

The game sees a welcome return to the 2D realm (for consoles) and features hand drawn graphics. With 5 worlds to explore there will be plenty for players to do and surely even more treasure to discover. The game will be played with the Wii-remote sideways which allows for a whole host of shake actions in order to enact Wario’s special moves.

We mentioned earlier in the week that Dragon Age information was coming on the 9th. The website delivered its promise, but it’s more of a ‘wait and see’ message. If you head on over to the website then you’ll see that it’s now called Dragon Age: Origins (suggesting a multi-game franchise) and a trailer will debut on Spike TV / GameTrailers TV tomorrow. There’s the option to sign up for the newsletter. Sadly that’s all, but more as soon as it breaks.

We previewed Imperium Romanum a while back and came to the conclusion that it was a title worthy of purchase, but little people would actually do that. That hasn’t stopped Kalypso Media developing the expansion of the Emperor Expansion. There are 16 new missions that span ancient Europe from Bath to Hadrian’s Wall. There are new buildings, larger maps, new tasks and improved voice samples. It’s only £14.99 and it’s due at the end of July. Enjoy the four screenshots below.
