Week 19 and Grand Theft Auto IV retains the top spot for the second week running, (was there any real doubt)? What is more interesting is the fact that the split of sales is now 62% for the Xbox 360 and 38% for the Playstation 3. Second place is held by Nintendo’s Wii Fit for the second week in a row and Wii Play / Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games switch places. As predicted by our review, Iron Man jumps up to fifth, despite it being a terrible game. The rest of the charts stay practically the same. There are no new entries this week, probably due to the dominance of Grand Theft Auto IV. To see what all the hoo-ha is about check out our review. EA announced today that their hit Skateboarding series Skate will be coming to the Nintendo family, both on Wii and DS under the new name, Skate It. The innovative FlickIt control system returns with a new twist, utilising the touch screen on the DS and the Wiimote of the Wii. On top of that is the Wii Balance board which allows gamers to be provided with better feedback. The Executive Producer of Skate, Scott Blackwood had this to say: “We knew it would be an exciting challenge to bring the soul and feel of skateboarding to the Wii and Nintendo DS. With fresh new designs and gameplay components built from scratch, we’ve been able to; once again, capture the true experience of skateboarding in a completely innovative way.” Skate It is due late 2008. Be sure to check the exclusive shots of the Wii version below. Be first to comment this article |

We've got some exciting news here at Avid Gamer, concerning several feature upgrades. The first concerns our featured content slideshow on the front page. We've reworked the interface to provide you with more information, and a nicer transition effect. We hope you enjoy it and that it allows for easier navigation around the website. Secondly is the introduction of a new galley feature for all our images. They'll now take up less space, and can be expanded to be viewed full screen. This means newer, higher res images, but less space. The media page will remain as it is (as will every article previous to this post) but future media posts will be presented in gallery form. Again we hope it'll improve the site allowing for better content. To know what we mean, check out the latest PC screenshots for Burnout Paradise below. The comment system has also been reworked, with a new system implemented. Leave us one here to tell us what you think of the upgrades. (Sadly it means previous comments were deleted.) UPDATE: More exciting news, we've sorted our on-site video streaming and will be presenting the latest video game trailers. Expect the latest trailer for Gears of War 2 within the hour.
