![]() We've been given a chance to ask the developers of the upcoming RPG Numen some questions. Along with the answers, we've been supplied with four new, exclusive screenshots. We'd like to thank Valeria Avacheva for setting us up with the opportunity to do so. For our readers who are unaware of Numen, can you describe the gameplay / premise? “The story of Numen takes place in the ancient Greece. The player controls one of the nine heroes – each of them serving another Olympian god – and tries to be the first one to find a stolen powerful artifact. The Hero is being watched by his or her god all the time and is granted items or abilities based on how well he or she is doing.” Why the choice of setting / timeframe? The ancient Greece with its great mythology, heroes and monsters looked like an obvious choice to us. It allows us to form the story on the base that majority of players is familiar with. What influences have you drawn upon, games? Myths? Literature? When we populated the world of Numen with monsters we certainly used a lot of reference. There are numerous books and other resources on mythical beasts, heroes and gods. But we also did want to bring something new and fresh to the game. What’s the point of exploring if you already know all the monsters you are likely to face? So we decided to introduce, along with the things you’d expect from a game set in this era, also some unique monsters, spells and features. When you explore the game world you see and feel that you are not alone. You meet the other heroes who may have gotten there before you. They may be after the same specific item or NPC or have chosen some other path to victory and so after meeting them you just part your ways. We also believe that the interaction with player’s god is a quite interesting feature. If you find ways to please your god, you will be granted unique spells and abilities. If not, you will have to do without them. How long will it take to get through the game? It’s quite difficult to say the exact time because of the side-quests that the player may simply ignore. Some of them are in fact quite elaborate (during one, for example, you can discover a whole new island). On average I think it may be around 30 hours. Quite a lot of them. Both one- and two-handed swords and axes, maces, daggers - if you play a warrior class you will probably use a lot of those. Lots of wands and staves for mages and different bows for those who prefer long-range combat. What multiplayer elements are there? Since the game is very story-oriented we decided not to add the multiplayer at all. ![]()
