Anyone who is coding independent games should be happy to know that Slave Circus Entertainment, the Canadian management firm is opening its doors to independent game developers from around the world. They’ll offer their extensive skills in publishing and distribution to help get the smaller games onto the market. Anyone who’s interested should check out the website and get in contact with their team. In the mean time, if you just enjoy playing casual games, rather than creating them then be sure to check out Glupod: Online. It’ll be released on May 30th and is created by a small international team under the name of Something, Inc. It involves big, relevant issues like world hunger, endangered animals and poverty and pits you against them in the effort to solve them. Be first to comment this article |

Before the review gets underway let it be said: Jack’s Bouncy Qubes is the cutest game that you’ll ever play this year. You can quote us on that but quite frankly we don’t give a hoot. In Jack’s Bouncy Qubes you control Jack, a small blob with a face which can only be compared to one of the ghosts out of Pacman. You move your cheerful little purple blob of goo around a platform with the aim of clearing as many coloured blocks as possible. You achieve that aim by jumping on the Qubes until they change colour (the order being orange to yellow to green to pink to blue to red). With this in mind, the game’s aim is pretty simple; hop about the levels changing the Qubes’ colours until you’ve got 4 or more linked in a shape. When that occurs, it’ll flash for around five seconds and then finally explode. Once you’ve learned the colour order, you’ll find it an extremely easy and addictive concept. Any difficult in understanding the game’s mechanic is diminished with an easy to understand instruction screen. Be first to comment this article |

Many of you won’t know the name Paul Davis, but you will be aware of his impressive CV. It boasts work such as GTAIV and GTA: San Andreas, Manhunt and Manhunt 2. He has currently turned to the Independent scene, releasing a game known as ‘Last of the Patriots.’ If you haven’t tried it, then head on over to http://www.last-of-the-patriots.com for a go. The game unconventionally follows a movie script development style rather than the traditional form of game creation. As a result the game has a distinct cinematic feel. Earlier this week, the French version was released for download; it was translated due to user request and the translation was carried out by Fabrice Brunon. Be first to comment this article |

It’s tremendously difficult not to pull up comparisons to similar games when looking at ‘Cryptex of Time.’ If you only glance at Cryptex of Time, then it’s easy enough to argue that it takes a lot from other jewel-based puzzle games. Whether it be Bejewelled, Jewel Quest, or even the classic; Columns (Mega Drive) the easy choice is to consider Cryptex of Time as a simple clone. Sadly, if you indeed do undertake that view, you’ll be sorely mistaken; and therefore be missing out on one of the most addictive games as of late. Do not be mistaken, it does have its similarities with other games, but what it takes, it refines and makes better. Be first to comment this article |
