About the Site Avid Gamer was originally a PC gaming site set up by myself, Marco Fiori as a hobby in December 2007. We’ve quickly gained popularity among the gaming community and expanded to multiplatform. We’re a team of seven experienced gamers who enjoy sharing the latest news, reviews, previews and articles with our audience, from both ends of the gaming spectrum; be it casual or hardcore. In May 2008 we overhauled the site bringing in user comments, a concise gallery feature for media, on-site video streaming, expanded our downloadable content and spruced up the look. As a result we’ve seen a gigantic jump in traffic. We supply gamers with news of all types, the latest patches for PC games, the latest game trailers and videos, exclusive screenshots, reviews of the latest games, previews of unreleased titles and a thoughtful insight into the industry. If you wish for us to review your game or have a file you wish for us to host, we’ll be happy to assist you. Please email

is your port of call. __________________________________________________________________________ Scoring Guide In light of various reviews, we’ve decided to publish our score guide. Unlike many other sites, games can reach 10’s, because what’s the point of reserving it for a perfect game, and therefore something that can never be reached. We don’t do decimals either, 0.1 reflects nothing in our mind. Read the review, not the score. - 0/10 - The game is shipped and fails to load for everyone. This hopefully will never happen.
- 1/10 - The game can be loaded, but that’s about all it does. It fails at every attempt.
- 2/10 – The game offers mental stimulation. Bad stimulation that is.
- 3/10 – The game is last gen, broken, ugly, pointless.
- 4/10 – The game has some good concepts, but the execution is lacking.
- 5/10 – The game is for the hardcore genre fans. Only they will look past its misgivings.
- 6/10 – The game does some things right, but it struggles to stand out from the crowd.
- 7/10 – The game is good. It’s worth a rent at minimum. Genre veterans will lap it up.
- 8/10 – The game is great. It should be experienced by any gamers. The odd flaw / problem.
- 9/10 – The game is up there for game of the year. Minuscule issues with noting.
- 10/10 – The game isn’t perfect, but excels expectations, refreshing the genre and showing things we’ve never seen before. One of the best games to date.
